To herald in the future, we took a look at the past.
The Ming dynasty, also known as the Empire of the Great Ming, was the ruling dynasty of China for 276 years (1368–1644) following the collapse of the Mongol-led Yuan dynasty. The Ming, described by some as one of the greatest eras of orderly government and social stability in human history, was the last dynasty in China ruled by ethnic Han Chinese.
It all started with the seven voyages of the treasure fleet.
Back in those days, and over a period of almost three decades in the early fifteenth century, Ming China sent out a fleet the likes of which the world had never seen. These enormous treasure junks were commanded by the great admiral, Zheng He. Together, Zheng He and his armada made seven epic voyages from the port at Nanjing to India, Arabia, and even East Africa. Amongst the treasure hoard, therein lies some of the finest hand woven silk — known to mankind.

Inspired by the rich culture of the Ming Dynasty, and taking a cue from the precious silk of the treasure fleet, we envisioned the next chapter in what could possibly constitute a festive packet, done differently. With that in mind, we came up with a choice of 5 different designs, laboriously concocted from a slew of different design elements, color contrasted, and officially christening them with the monicker of ‘Oriental Charms’.

From a curator point of view, they exude an air of exquisitely crafted details from Ming Dynasty inspired motifs, right down to an authentic imperial seal and a silver hot stamped logo — these are probably the festive packets to end all festive packets this year. Starting February 1st, these limited edition collectibles are coming to all Vivo® outlets nationwide — and frankly, they are #worththewait.

Much thought and effort had gone into the conception phase of these 5 ancient wonders, from the original intricate geometric like patterns reminiscing of the bygone era, right down to the actual shades of colors used.

For that extra bit of opulence and flair, we add an imperial seal, an almost exact replica of the ones in circulation during the Ming Dynasty period to the back of each of these festive packets, delicately rendered in bold contrasting shades that really POP. And for that finishing touch, our very own Vivo® logo gets the white glove treatment — hot stamped and immortalized in ingot silver on the front for an eternity of abundance.
By the power of His Majesty, these treasures don’t last forever.
